Advancing Solutions to Complex Problems
“Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”
An innovative thinker whose focus and passion is education and learning, Daryl Horton has distinguished
himself above other junior and mid-level leaders by his unrelenting effort to achieve higher levels of proficiency and effective actions through increased levels of understanding. This unwavering need to improve human performance has been the hallmark of his career.
His leadership and management expertise covers not only tried and proven methodologies but includes a keen understanding of new and experimental methodologies. Aside from project management, lean six sigma, and, business and systems analysis methodologies, Daryl strives to learn and incorporate new and innovative methodologies and theories such as complexity theory, small world theory, and improved concepts of command and control to name a few.
Throughout his career, Daryl has brought vision and motivation to the large and often slow-to-change work environment of the department of defense in successful approaches to generate the positive changes needed to survive in the continuously changing environment of combat. Many describe him as someone who “performs marvelously in demanding and critical positions,” and his work has been described as “groundbreaking” and “unparalleled.”
According to Confucius, “I hear and I forget; I see and I remember; I do and I understand.”
Re-engineering operational processes, integration of information systems, and designing information and knowledge networks are just a few of the important benefits Daryl brought to the training arena while providing support to Marines deploying to combat.
“I firmly believe that effective information management (IM) can deliver critically important information promptly to those who need it in a form they quickly understand and effective knowledge management (KM) can put in place the processes and shared information environment that can improve decision-making.”
Daryl has earned a Baccalaureate of Science in English as an undergraduate student, a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing as a graduate student, a Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) specializing in business information management, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Management specializing in Knowledge Management.
